I rather liked this book until I got to the end and it just stopped. I have never read a book with a cliff hanger before. Kind of turned me off to reading the next book, and I can fill in the blanks for myself. It was predictable from the beginning, but what romance of this sort isn't? I was looking forward to going through the process of watching her life unfold anyway, but the ending felt like a cheap trick to get me to buy another book. I generally expect that books of a series are somewhat inclusive in and of themselves-- up to a point. The feel-good predictable wrap up I wanted is not until a future volume(s?) of the series ( I assume), and I expected to have some issues resolved that would not leave me unfulfilled as a reader. Instead, for a moment I was seriously wondering if they forgot to finish the book. A cleaner ending would have been a chapter or two before, leaving things as they were in her life. Keep the new beginnings for the next book. That would have kept me curious.

Charlotte is sometimes called Charlie, and by some of her closest friends, "Chuck". But her strangest nickname was the "husband maker". Every one of her boyfriends went on to leave her, and to marry the very next girl they fall for. But no, not her. Charlotte thought her streak was finally broken when Kyle swept her off her feet. They were deeply in love, and he's rich and caring man. He's also a senator's son with political aspirations, and a wife can only help that. But when a reporter fabricated quotes from Charlotte to fit her attack agenda, will their relationship withstand the test?
Very rare for romance, this ends on a SAD note. In fact, it's argued by many (most?) romance authors and reviewers that a "sad ending" book CANNOT be romance, but merely "fiction with romantic elements". While I enjoy the struggle, it's also a bit sad. And their story will continue in the next volume.
A young woman realizes that when she dates someone, they usually end it with her and then get married to someone else a short time later. People have started calling her the husband maker. This story is about a young woman searching for her soul mate and has a hard time dealing with her emotions and trying to find that perfect guy. I had a hard time when the book ended because it just left you hanging and it was hard to let it end. The next book better come out quickly! It is well written and one can't but help to start think that her knight in shining armor should be Angus- her long time friend.
A story needs to have a plot and this just had the beginnings of one. Its like there was no scene left on the cutting room floor--the roommate even had her own arc. The fact that Charlie is left holding the bag is supposed to make you want to read more and, it doesn't. I found Charlie to be a pansy who is so afraid of "missing the one" she allows herself to be lead down the garden path. What is wrong with saying, "No." And Kyle was supposed to be awesome, but all he does is throw her into uncomfortable situations and watch her flounder. On multiple occasions she could have said "I'm out" and then we would have seen him react from the back foot. Would perfect Kyle have behaved perfectly if Charlie had gotten pissed in the aftermath of the dinner, instead of apologizing and saying she was to blame.
Loved this story from the first page, but didn't realize it was a series until I was hooked. The writing is top notch; plot is plausible albeit predictable; character development is great; it made me laugh and it made me cry! So why only a three? Because the ending was so abrupt and unexpected! I don't mind reading a series if each book is a stand alone novel in and of itself (i.e., Ludlum's "Bourne" series; Lee Child's "Jack Reacher"; James Lee Burke's "Dave Robicheaux;", Tom Clancy's "Jack Ryan," etc.). I like books with continuing characters, but to just chop up one complete book arbitrarily into three little novellas is irritating and inconsiderate of the reader. I was tempted to give it a one, but changed to a three in acknowledgement of the author's writing skills. But I resent the "Who Shot J.R.?" style ending, just to sell more books! I already know where this story is going, who Charlotte will end up with, and would have enjoyed seeing how the author led her to the logical conclusion. So why should I have to buy two more books to get the whole story? This is one book, with one basic character (Charlotte), and one storyline (when will Charlotte finally wake up, realize her true love and marry him?). Cutting it up into three totally dependent cliffhangers does the reader a disservice. Cut the fluff, put it all into one coherent sequence, and charge accordingly for a complete, stand alone book! Sorry Miss White, but if all your books are set up this way, you just lost me as a reader and customer!
I really enjoyed this book. It is a cliff hanger, so be warned of you really don't like that. I usually don't mind, but I kind of did with this one. Shortly after beginning the book, I knew she wasn't going to may the guy she was dating, but I thought she would marry another character in the book. That didn't happen, although I suspect she will in another book. One thing I really didn't like was at the end it announced that the guy she dated for most of the book was engaged, but it didn't day to whom (although I'm pretty sure whom). Still, it was a very enjoyable read. The characters were very likeable & the book was very clean.
